We also wanted to reassure patients who may be asked to attend the surgery about the measures we are taking to maintain a safe environment .
All staff wear appropriate PPE when seeing patients at face to face appointments. This is to protect you as well as themselves.
We are only allowing people to enter the surgery when necessary, and only allowing 3 people in the waiting area. Others are being asked to remain in their car until the clinician is ready to see them.
Stafford now has a ‘Hot Clinic’ for patients and household members who are isolating with symptoms of Covid 19. Surgeries in Stafford and the surrounding area can book patients into this clinic to be seen by a GP for non-covid related issues. If patients have transport issues (as they cannot use public transport or taxis) there is an option to arrange transport to the clinic.
Should we need to see a patient at the Practice who is isolating due to Covid 19 we have, in line with national guidance, set up a ‘Red Zone’. This is a room only to be used for this reason. Patients will NOT enter through the main door and waiting area, but come in through a side door and straight into the room. The clinician seeing the patient will be wearing full PPE. The patient will exit through the same door. The clinician will clean down the room and remove the PPE within the room. The clinician will not see any other patients that day.
Currently there is capacity at the ‘Hot Clinic’ to see all patients requiring appointments and so this is our preferred option at the moment.
It is important that patients needing regular blood tests or injections should continue to attend for these.
